Noah had a very wonderful 2nd birthday. We had two small celebrations. One was just our family at home on his actual birthday. The second was this past Saturday. My mom, The Hagers, and the Emme's came and celebrated with us. We had a homemade banana cake that looked like the head of a monkey. He enjoyed all of his presents and is looking forward to going to the store with the gift cards that he received!
We visited Christopher's preschool for next year. He really seemed to like it and the teacher was very nice. It was a pretty easy decision to make. He has his well check up tomorrow so it will be fun to find out what he weighs, etc!
Sydney is very excited to have 4 loose teeth. One should be falling out any day now! She is also busy gearing up for the end of the year at school. I know that she will be really sad when it is time to be done. She has a big field trip on Friday to Como Zoo which daddy will be attending and bringing the boys with as well. I will be at work! Graduation is on June 9!
Until next time...

What we've been up to since our last post....
In my last post, I mentioned some of our journey with Christopher to date. At the end of April we had an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting with Christopher's team to discuss what our plan for the summer and next fall will be. It was decided that he would benefit for ESY (Extended school year) and so he will go to classes for a few weeks in July. It was also suggested that he would benefit from a different preschool than the one that he attended this year. They have recommended that he go to a classroom with mostly children who have autism. We have not totally made up our minds about what we want to do, but I am going to see this program on Thursday and we will make the decision from there. The most important thing to us is that he is in the right place and getting all of the help that he can. We want him to be ready for Kindergarten by the end of next year. His team feels that he will definitely be academically ready (actually they said he would be academically ready now) but socially he is not and this specialized class is supposed to help with that.
We hosted Easter here this year. We were so excited to have my mom, sister (and her family), and my cousin Steve and his family join us. In addition to Easter we celebrated Christopher's 4th birthday. Brad and I worked together to make him the Super Why cake that he requested. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed the nice weather! On April 27, Christopher's actual birthday we celebrated with his favorite food (pizza) and cupcakes that I made for him. He got a Radio Flyer trike, a Wii game, a floor puzzle, some paints, play doh, a Toy Story book with little figurines, a microphone, a McDonalds cash register, money, and giftcards. He is a very lucky boy!
Sydney has been doing well in school. She is constantly writing in the journal that I got her and she always illustrates the things that she writes as well. Lately she has taken an interest in reading independently as well. It is really fun to see how excited she gets when she reads books. On May 6, she had her first music program. It was so much fun to watch her and her friends perform. What was even more exciting was the fact that she and her classmates ended up on the news because one of the teachers received an award. She was so excited to see herself on TV. She has also made us really proud by being nominated for a Polar Bear Pride Award. She was picked by her homeroom teacher because she has demonstrated initiative, self-reliance, perserverance, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and independence. She received her award on May 19th during their Polar Pride Rally. She was so excited that she won and we are so PROUD of her accomplishment. I am told that it is a great honor to be chosen. She is busy finishing up her Kindergarten year. She has made so many wonderful friends and I know that she will be really sad when school is done for the year. Her kindergarten graduation is on June 9 and I think that will be a bittersweet day.
Our baby boy will be 2 in two days! Hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. For those of you who have Facebook, check out my video tribute to Noah in honor of his birthday and see how much he has grown. He is the best eater of our three children. Give him just about anything and he will eat it! One of his favorite foods is guacamole, which we eat occasionally, but he sure loves it! He has such an infectious personality and we think he could potentially be a football player...he can sure tackle with the best of them! He really loves his big sister, they have quite the bond.
This spring we also made a little change in our home. Christopher decided that he would like to share a bedroom with Noah instead of Sydney, so thanks to a co-worker of Brad's who donated a bunk bed to us this was made possible. The boys seem to love sharing a room and have made more strides in bonding as well. Sydney was not overjoyed at the prospect of having her own room at first, but has started to enjoy it as time goes on.
More to come soon...
